This chapter emphasized ways to create a lively verbal environment in the classrooms. The teacher who is alert to opportunities for using sophisticated, interesting, and precise language is probably the most important element in such an environment.

Your Original Post: Please post a message sharing how the quest for your tier two words went, what thoughts you had on the process and how you may use this in other subject areas beside reading.
Your Response to Others: Please read and reply to your colleagues' posts. You do not need to reply to everyone's but must respond to at least two other postings.

Assignment: Use what you have learned in this chapter by selecting an activity from those listed below that interests you:
1. Select a book and make a plan for sharing it with your students.
2. Select a poem with phrases that are particularly interesting or noteworthy and decide how you might share it with your students.
3. Find a group of words that share the same morpheme or word root and create a poster for several words that share it. For example, tele, meaning "far or distant" is the Greek root for telephone, telepathy, and telegraph. Encourage students to creat similar posters for other root words.
